LLANDYRNOG MANAGERS STEP DOWN

LLANDYRNOG United were dealt a double blow last Saturday when managers Adam Lloyd and Arwel Hughes announced it would be their final game in charge.

Their decision followed a 2-1 home loss to Barmouth for the Welsh Alliance Division One side.

Lloyd said: “It is with great sadness that I confirm our resignations. Having been part of Llandyrnog FC for 15 years or more it was a great honour to be given the opportunity to manage the club both this season and over the previous two seasons with Russ Pierce, but with family commitments and business commitments, I am unable to provide the long term commitment, managerial understanding and dedication to the club that the players and supporters deserve.”

Club secretary Matthew Lewis said: “We would like to thank them both for all their efforts and hard work over the last few months and pleased that they are both happy and keen to stay involved with the club on a committee basis.”

The club will be meeting with hopeful candidates over the next week to try fill the position. Any interested parties should get in touch with Matthew Lewismatthewlewis1@live.co.uk

LATEST REPORT…..

LLANDYRNOG UNITED 1 (Williams) BARMOUTH AND DYFFRYN 2 (Sutherns, Morris)

LLANDYRNOG will have to learn quickly that even with all the possession in the 90 minutes it comes down to the simple fact that goals win games.
United have seen their performances improve dramatically over recent weeks but are still coming up short in front of goal and mistakes are costing them dearly.
The villagers had Barmouth on the back foot from the off with their usual high tempo but with Barmouth’s first attack of the game George Sutherns managed to steer his effort just under number one Danny Jones. A real blow for United who had once again started brightly.
Minutes before the break Barmouth were gifted a second after Aled Roberts superb tackle on the edge of the box was bizarrely punished by a penalty decision.
Danny Jones made a great stop from Adam Morris’ spot kick only for Morris to smash home the rebound.
When luck’s not on your side things really don’t go to plan.
HALF TIME: 0-2
Their was hope for United in the second half as with barely a minute played Paul Williams let loose a brilliant 30 yard effort that left the keeper with no chance and for the remaining 40-plus minutes United did their best to break down the Barmouth walls.
Youngster Ifan Jones made himself a nuisance for the Barmouth back four while Dai Davies in centre midfield worked tirelessly to try find an all important equaliser.
The seasiders were once again awarded a penalty in the dying moments of the game, this time deservedly so but Danny Jones once again pulled off a brilliant save.
